Verizon FIOS - Anyone Tried it yet?

Verizon finally finished installing the fiber optic cables in my street (and they really butchered most of the front yards!). They have a two year deal where you get TV, internet and telephone for "one low price." Has anyone started using them yet? I have Comcast for high speed and for digital cable, and I have Vonage for my phone. When I told some friends I now have access to Verizon FIOS they were very envious and said its waaaay better than Comcast for all the services. I really don't like Comcast and would love to switch, but I don't want to end up downgrading. I'd like it to be at least as good as Comcast. I'd also consider switching from Vonage if you have to get all three Verizon services for the deal, although I'm extremely happy with Vonage.

I am very interested to hear about anyone's experience with verizon FIOS in Montclair. I have been on Comcast cable since 2001 and on Vonage since 2003. I believe the current down speeds for comcast are 1.5 mb/s down for $61.00 / month. According to the Verizon Fios page, the lower end package for internet is only $39.00 with a 30 day money back guarantee. That package is 5 Mbps down. If you can truely achieve those speeds, then it is well worth it to switch. If anyone switches over, tell us here how it went. If you have vonage, explain how easy or if it is even possible to port over the vonage phone number.

Hi - just wanted to add that I'm across from Henderson Elementary and was told that the FIOS is not yet available for our area anyways. So, not yet an option although we definitely plan on switching once it is done if the speeds are as good as stated.

I just got notice that Comcast is raising our rates yet again. I work with some guys who love FIOS. Looks like bundling my services would be a huge savings.

Anybody hear anything about when it will be available here?
