Montclair BarsI'm on a mission to make AT&T realize that my service in Montclair... well,... SUCKS!

I have made 3 trips to the AT&T store next to five guys and have talked to their customer representatives, or as I like to call them because of the conversation quality, Cell Dudes. I've gotten a couple of numbers and I have talked to a person named Duy T. Vu and apparently he is the regional sales rep for our area. I told him I have had AT&T for some months now and that I cant get service at my house and its very spotty on 234 and Waterway, one of the main roads of Montclair. I also told him that I run a community website called.... yes our beloved Montclair Post, and that we have had a couple threads about this issue.

He responded with the action of he would go to the office and run my zip code and ask a technician to survey that area up and down waterway and around the general montclair area. He also Added, and this is important "If we have enough complaints we will install a repeater to boost the signal in our area" This means, we will have full bars in Montclair if the install of this repeater is less than the cost of losing customers. He also added that he did not want his contact information on the website. I think he was a little scared of getting pounded. I wont post his information but I will post this. This is a number you can call to complain about your service in Montclair.

1-866-293-4634 or 611 from your wireless phone

Please take 5 minutes and call a Customer Service person and log a complaint about your service. This will get us service in Montclair.

I'm calling him tomorrow and everyday until I get an answer I like.

I called customer support and let them know that I had pretty much already decided to switch away from them, since my four AT&T cell phones are pretty much just hunks of metal anywhere in Montclair. The support rep on the phone was very helpful, and found that none of our phones, originally from Cingular, had received any of their network updates in two years. These updates are supposed to be automatically pushed to your phone and self-install when you turn your phone on. I pointed out that it was probably an indication of how weak our signal is in Montclair that their updates weren't working. We were able to successfully update my Treo, but couldn't on any of the LG phones, and so they have put some new sim cards for them in the mail and assure me that this will improve our service. I remain skeptical and declined the offer to upgrade our phones (and sign a new 2-year service contract), until I had some real indication of an improved AT&T signal in Montclair. And regardless, software updates on my older phones don't explain TJ's current weak signal on his new iPhone, so again, I remain skeptical.

I'm with you in this mobilization TJ! But my family is eager for cell phones that work, so I'm not sure how much time I can give AT&T before we'll have to switch.

And Give up my iPhone.... Neva! It's the best mobile device in the WORLD!

I have an update - I heard from the AT&T rep and he passed my requests on to the hire ups. He said they would be contacting me and they have a solution. He didn't give specifics because he couldn't do it officially, but He said "I would be satisfied with their resolution." They should be calling me soon.

I'm giving them 30 days, No call.... I'll be back on the war path again.

Yes a full blown tower, not a repeater, not a signal booster, a full 5 bar beautiful tower. No more crappy signals in montclair for AT&T customers.

I got a call from the rep Dewey Vu and he said the tower is in the works and the permits are being filed. Finally!

Thank you Dewey!

No not that I've heard - maybe it was a clear day and the planets were alined. I'm giving them another 30 days until I call again - they must hate me at this point.
